Home Group Curriculum 2010-2011

Does being in a home group really change anything in my life?  We all long to be connected with friends.  We long to know and be known by God.  We long to make a difference.  How does being in a home group impact those things?  IN these four sessions, Alan Danielson will take a look at four questions every home group should ask themselves.  You’ll hear real-life interviews from home groups whose lives were changed after they asked themselves those very questions.  Alan Danielson is the Central Team leader for Life Groups at LifeChurch.tv in Edmund, Oklahoma.  He provides direction and training for nearly 1000 small groups on LifeChurch.tv’s 13 campuses in 6 different states.  Alan has a Master’s Degree in  Christian Education.  Alan and his wife Stacey, have three children.

Many people feel like their life leads them from one path to the next with no certainty.  Is this the right job?  Is he or she the one?  Is now the time to have kids?  What do I do now?  Am I even on the right path?   In these four sessions, viewers will experience cinematic short films that show Abraham living in the 21st century.  What might he think and feel with the incredible steps of faith God asked him to take?  After each short film, Mark Batterson will teach on the Biblical principles from Abraham’s story that apply to us today.

Is Jesus worth this to you?  It’s easy for American Christians to forget how Jesus said his followers would actually live, what their new lifestyle would actually look like.  They would, he said, leave behind security, money, convenience, even family for him.  They would abandon everything for the gospel.  They would take up their crosses daily.  But who do you know that lives like that?  Do you?

In this book, David Platt challenges us to consider with an open heart how we have manipulated the gospel to fit our cultural preferences.  He shows what Jesus actually said about being his disciple, then invites you to believe and obey what you have heard.  And he tells the dramatic story of what is happening as a successful suburban church decides to get serious about the Gospel according to Jesus.  Finally, he urges you to join in The Radical Experiment, a one-year journey in authentic discipleship that will transform how you live in a world that desperately needs the Good News Jesus came to bring.
